The Roseires Dam

Located on the Blue Nile, a tributary of the Nile River, 550 km south of Sudan's capital Khartoum in the town of Roseires within Damazin, Blue Nile State, the Roseires Dam was initially constructed in the 1960s. Primarily serving for hydropower generation and irrigation purposes, the dam retains waters from the Blue Nile upstream to irrigate the vast expanse of land between Roseires and Khartoum. The power station houses seven generators with a combined installed capacity of 280,000 kilowatts. The project used approximately 212,000 tons of Yufeng P.O52.5 cement.
