Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant

The Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant in Guangxi, China, represents the first nuclear power project to be constructed in the country's western region and in ethnic minority areas. It is capable of delivering 15 billion kilowatt-hours of secure, eco-friendly, and cost-effective electricity annually, fueling an estimated 14.2 billion Chinese yuan increase in total social output, and has created over 120,000 job opportunities, thereby significantly propelling the socio-economic growth of Guangxi. Compared to a similarly coal-fired power plant of the same scale, Stage 1 of the Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant would have reduced standard coal consumption by 4.82 million tons each year, CO2 emissions by around 14.82 million tons, and sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides emissions by roughly 190,000 tons, thereby has made great contribution to China's goals of greenhouse gas mitigation, environmental protection, and reliable power supply in the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone. Specifically, the project used approximately 420,000 tons of Yufeng special nuclear power cement.
